My Professional Journey

 My path into therapy began through mentoring justice-involved youth—a formative experience that shaped how I understand perspective, voice, and the importance of being truly seen. Working with young men who were often unseen or unheard showed me how profoundly perspective shapes experience—how being genuinely listened to can restore dignity, and how the absence of that listening can cause real harm.

Over time, this way of working has come to be reflected in what I call POV Clarity—an approach grounded in the belief that people already carry wisdom, strength, and the capacity for change, especially when they are supported in seeing themselves and their circumstances with greater clarity and compassion.

I have been practicing since 2007 and have worked with individuals, couples, families, teens, and older adults from many backgrounds. I continue to be inspired by the capacity people already have to rescue themselves when they are supported in recognizing their strengths.

My work has taken place across a wide range of systems and life circumstances, each offering a different lens on resilience, identity, and human dignity:

- At Montgomery County Juvenile Probation, I served youth 10-18 who were involved in the juvenile justice system.

- While mentoring with Texas Juvenile Justice Department, I provided 1:1 mentoring and classroom skills training for youth in state facilities and on parole. 

- In my private practice, I supported a broad range of populations, with an increasing focus on supporting teens and young adults exploring gender identity, and the families learning alongside them—often through periods of uncertainty, reflection, and growth.

- At PATH in San Diego, I provided mental health and supportive services to people experiencing homelessness, including veterans and justice-involved individuals. 

- At Grow Through Life Counseling, I have worked largely with active duty military service members and their families.

Beginning in April 2026, I will be relocating to Spain, and all services will be provided remotely. While my physical location will change, my commitment to thoughtful, attentive, and perspective-centered care will remain the same.

At every stage of my work, I remain guided by a simple belief: when people are supported in seeing themselves and their lives more clearly, meaningful change becomes possible.
