One of the most important characteristics in good supervision is that the supervisee feels safe enough to be vulnerable. To help achieve this, it is my responsibliity to create a space that makes that safe. I seek to reduce heirarchy as much as possible,
We meet virtually, typically in triads (2 supervisees and 1 supervisor). During supervision sessions, I encourage each participant to reflect on each other's discussion points, offer feedback, and ask questions. We cover a lot of serious topics, but we have fun and build connections at the same time.
There are some obvious topics that must be included, such as discussing specific cases, ethical/legal dilemmas, ideas for interventions, etc. However, we will also address your requirements for licensure, professional development, information about various work settings, and how to set up a private practice when you are ready to do so.
The fee you pay for your supervision sessions includes any ad hoc questions that may arise between supervision sessions. You will be encouraged to reach out quickly in the event of any urgent matters.
The frequency of supervision will depend on the requirements of the licensing board(s) for the license(s) you are pursuing, and possibly the number of clients you see each week. At present, the requirements are:
Texas (LPC Associates) - 4 hours per month
Texas (LMFT Associates) - 1 hour every week you see clients
California (APCC, AMFT, ASW) - 1 hour every week you see clients for 1-10 hours, and 2 hours every week you see clients for more than 10 hours.
This will depend on your licensing board's requirements for number and types of clinical hours earned, how many hours a week you are seeing clients, and possibly the population you serve. When you start supervision with me, I will provide you with an Excel tool to track your hours and it includes an estimator to see how much longer it will take you to finish at your current rate.
Yes, if your employer is willing to agree to a Memorandum of Agreement at my standard Supervision Fee rate, I will accept direct payment from them. You will remain responsible for any fees they do not pay, as well as additional fees (such as No-Show Fees) which they typically will not cover.
